Dancing, swimming in the rain. I loved that it stormed and poured rain. It changed so many aspects of the evening, but I think for the best. It made our wedding even more relaxed and casual, just the way we wanted it.
Getting married on an island on stony. A lake that is so important to Connor and his family. And that joes holds a super special place in my heart as well. Also, seeing Connor as soon as we walked into the church it was pretty overwhelming. I was so excited to see him. Connors’ vows were everything.
Our boat ride after was super special. Just the two of us escaping for a little while and saying “did we really just get married?”
Favourite wedding details: flowers we grew at our farm, everyone chipping into help, our lovely bartenders and Night Kitchen pizza. Taking the extra time to make sure it would be super fun for all the kids. Creating a day that people felt comfortable enough to just swim, chat and enjoy.
My best advice is to keep it about the two of you. What the essence of your relationship would look like as a wedding. We wanted something small, intimate and where everyone could just hangout. A summer day at the lake, swimming, waterskiing, delicious food and drinks. Roll with the things you can’t control, like the weather. It truly doesn’t matter. At the end of the day what matters most is enjoying spending time together and with the people that you love. Also hire people that you connect with and get you. Like Aleisha. She captured the essence of us and who we are on an incredibly special day. Our bartenders were two of the sweetest girls and they went above and beyond. The night kitchen not only creates incredible pizza, but they are such wonderful kind people.
